Strength & Conditioning
Strength & Conditioning is our flagship group class: coached in a small-group setting. Whether it’s your first class or your five-hundredth, every session has a prescription that fits your level and moves you toward your goals.
Who is Strength & Conditioning for?
Driven people. Former athletes who miss having something to train for, busy professionals and parents who want real results from their hour, and complete beginners who want coaching instead of guesswork. Most of our members aren’t elite athletes, and none of them needed to be to start.
The class is shared. The training is yours. Every session includes multiple prescriptions of each movement, and your coach helps you pick the version that matches your level and your goals, so you’re never surviving someone else’s workout.
Benefits
Why train at Jaguar Strength & Conditioning?
Real coaches, not cheerleaders
This isn’t a class where someone hits play on a timer and hopes for the best. Every Jaguar coach can perform what they teach and corrects technique at every level, from your first-ever squat to advanced skill work.
One hour, built for coaching
No 20-minute throwaway warm-ups. We get you into productive work fast, which frees your coach to go person to person, every single day, working on what you specifically need. You leave knowing you got everything out of the hour.
People who pull you to show up
A rising tide lifts all ships. Accountability here doesn’t just come from your coach: you’ll train alongside people working toward something, who notice when you’re not there, and who work harder because you’re working hard next to them.
This isn’t a random workout every day
Most gyms program for a good sweat. Ours is planned months in advance in structured cycles, so the work you do this week builds on last week and sets up the next.
Programmed in cycles, not thrown together
Every cycle is designed by Coach Matt and runs 6 to 8 weeks: long enough for your body to adapt and your technique to sharpen. Each one is intentionally different from the last, a calculated step in a long-term plan. Show up consistently, trust the process, and watch the results compound.
Three tracks inside every class
Choose day to day between Strength & Power (lower volume, heavier loads), Build & Tone (higher volume for physique, general strength, and longevity), and Barbell Club (Olympic lifting focus, select days). Same class, same community, your goals.
Intensity without the overuse
Your primary lifting progressions sensibly overload the body for strength, muscle, fat loss, and performance, while intensity fluctuates through the week across metabolic conditioning, engine work, accessory lifting, plyometrics, and body awareness. Hard training, 3 to 5 days a week, without the overuse injuries random daily intensity causes.
Prescribed to you, every session
On any given day the room holds people chasing competitive performance, pure strength, longevity, and how they look and feel. Every workout has a version for each of them, including yours.
Duration:
Classes are 60 minutes, start to finish. Most members train 3 to 5 days per week, and the programming is built to support that.

Strength & Conditioning FAQs
Is Strength & Conditioning right for beginners?
Yes, and Jaguar especially so. High-level athletes are a small percentage of our membership, every movement scales, and if you want a proper build-up first, On-Ramp gives you one-on-one sessions with a coach before your first class.
I've never touched a barbell. Can I still start?
That’s exactly what coaching is for. Your coach teaches the movements from scratch, and the prescriptions in every class mean you’ll work with loads and versions that fit where you are today, not where the person next to you is.
Do I have to compete?
No. Some members chase the CrossFit Open, most are here for strength, health, and feeling athletic again. The programming serves both, and nobody’s ranked at the door.
Can I focus on strength instead of CrossFit-style workouts?
Yes, that’s what the tracks are for. Pick Strength & Power for pure strength work, Barbell Club for Olympic lifting on its scheduled days, or follow the Build & Tone path if your goal is building strength and improving body composition, all within the same class structure.
Do both gyms run these classes?
Yes, Strength & Conditioning runs at our Chicago and Lemont gyms. Check each gym’s schedule for class times.
